Lagoon and Ibera
Marshes
Marshes are water deposits
of antique abandoned river ditches; their surface is
covered by an impressing variety of aquatic plants.
Ibera Marshes are the largest protected area in Argentina,
located in the Province of Corrientes, representing
almost 15% of it. With almost 1.400.000 hectares, the
Marshes host the most various species of aquatic plants
such as water hyacinths, rushes, water lilies, nenuphars,
lesser duckweeds, sprouts, lilies, zircons. Within the
richness of its fauna you may find river wolves, red
foxes, pampas deer, and alligators, besides over 350
bird species. San
Ignacio Ruins 60 kilometers
away from Posadas, capital of the province of Misiones,
you can find San Ignacio Ruins. Within Misiones jungle
you may see remains of the civilization designed by
Jesuits and constructed by the Guarani people over 400
years ago. In spite of being hidden in the jungle for
almost 2 centuries we can still observed the greatness
of the American baroque design architecture. The urban
trace of the Reduction was made following designs with
which Jesus Company constructed other reductions in
other regions of the world. Though vegetation has ruined
some constructions it is impressing to see how tree
roots embrace stone pillars. |
